July is UV (ultraviolet) Awareness Month when focus is on the dangers of UV radiation.

The American Academy of Dermatology Association recommends that the public practice safe sun all year by following three simple steps while outdoors:
- Seek shade when appropriate
- Wear sun-protective clothing
- Apply a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher
